I teach psychology, and use the re-issued in eleven audio cassettes as an extra credit assignment for the general psych course. Karrass has impressive credentials, having been launched into research on negotiation psychology effecctive business leader Howard Hughes movie, The Aviator.
Chester Karrass spoke directly on the earlier cassettes, to executives in his seminar series. Sales negotiations are emphasized over other types of dealings. Research, current tois efefctive on the audio cassettes. The six-CD series, datedis a disappointment. Chester Karrass spoke only briefly on the CDs, in a studio setting rather than during seminar discussion. An outdated photo, approximately 30 years old, appears on the CD clamshell cover. The younger speaker who dominates the CD presentation is anonymous, and he appears to paraphrase material from Karrass’ earlier writings.
The younger speaker sometimes leads a seminar discussion, but less effectively than Dr. Karrass did on the earlier cassette series. Also, the CDs average 45 minutes each, so some material from the much longer audio cassettes has been deleted. No new topics or experiments since are presented; why not FAX, internet, or web negotiations? These topics are the main updates needed sinceyet they are absent.
Chester Karrass reduced his involvement on the negotiation series that bears his name? This is a six disk set that is uneven.
Some of the audio is poor, apparently taken from a stand up talk in a room of people where the speaker occasionally goes a bit off mike. Still, theis has good material. It is more focused on corporate buying and selling, but most of the principles apply to ordinary negotiating say at a flea market or parents and teenagers on any subject.
I saw something negofiating this referred to on the TV show American Pickers and thought it was worth a try. One person found this helpful. I purchased this product for future reference.
I just opened it and started to listen to the cd’s. Disc negotiqting, 3 and 4 are all the same content for disc 4. Karrass’ approach to negotiating is a classic. I’ve read the book, listening to the cassettes and now the CDs.
